Aunque bajo el paraguas Americana caben estilos de los más diverso, es habitual encontrar entre sus premiados nombres importantes de la Country Music (o, por lo menos, cercanos a ella).

Los grandes triunfadores de la gala del 17 de Septiembre de 2009 fueron Buddy y Julie Miller consiguiendo cuatro premios. Miller fue nombrado Artist of the Year. La pareja se llevó el album of the year por "Written in Chalk," song of the year por Chalk y el correspondiente al duo or group of the year.

Otros premiados:

Justin Townes Earle emerging artist of the year, superando a Band of Heathens, Belleville Outfit y Sarah Borges.

El guitarrista Gurf Morlix recibió el Instrumentalist of the Year .

A John Fogerty le otorgaron el Lifetime Achievement Award for songwriting.

John Cowan y Darrell Scott entregaron un Lifetime Instrumental Award a Sam Bush.

Ken Leviton fue reconocido con el Jack Emerson Award entregado por Emmylou Harris.

Por último, Asleep at the Wheel volvió a casa con el Lifetime Achievement Award for Performance.
